CPT/OPT/STEM OPT

Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is for students that must participate in a training experience for their program of study. The training can be any work-like experience, paid or unpaid, such as a practicum, internship, clinicals, or student teaching. The training must be a component of an academic course. To participate in the training, students must be enrolled in the corresponding course. 

Students are not permitted to participate in a training experience off-campus for any reason without an authorization.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)
OPT is benefit available for eligible F-1 students. It allows students to experience real-world work related to their field of study. Students may apply to USCIS for 12 months per degree level.

STEM OPT Extension

The STEM OPT Extension is a 24-month extension of Post-completion OPT available to students with approved STEM degrees.
