Students Studying Online from Another Country

I AM ENROLLED, BUT I AM NOT COMING TO THE UNITED STATES THIS SEMESTER
– CAN I WAIVE THE SCHOOL INSURANCE PLAN?

Yes, only students who are enrolled in classes and will be present in the United States* will need to have insurance coverage.  The charge may still go onto your account automatically, so you will need to notify the ESU Office of International Education of your plans to stay in your home country.  You will need to notify us again for each semester that you stay in your home country.

If you are planning to study from your home country, please email Kelly Roberts at krobert5@emporia.edu with the following information:

  • Your name as it appears on your passport
  • Your passport number
  • Your birth date formatted as MM/DD/YYYY
  • A statement of your plan to study from your home country.

We will use this information to verify your travel history with the USCIS database and confirm that you are not in the United States.  Once we have confirmed this information, we will have the insurance charge waived from your account.

*Students cannot legally study exclusively online while in the United States.  If you are in the United States, you must comply with enrollment requirements, including face-to-face enrollment requirements.
Please email Mrs. Chie Austin ( caustin4@emporia.edu ) for questions about enrollment requirements for International Students.
