Diversity Award


Emporia State University offers the Diversity Award to select international students (undergraduate and graduate), who will bring academic excellence and cultural diversity to our campus. If selected, recipients will receive a tuition waiver (reduced tuition rate) for the entirety of their studies at ESU, provided that they remain in good standing with the university. The award reduces the annual tuition charges by 35% for undergraduate and graduate students.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 3.0 GPA
    • Undergraduate students:
      • Freshman applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA from their high school studies.
      • Transfer and second bachelor applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA from their university studies.
    • Graduate students:
      • Graduate applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA from their Bachelor’s degree or from a previous graduate-level degree.

Nomination Form: 

If you currently reside outside of the U.S., please visit your nearest EducationUSA center for free advising and resources in addition to requesting the adviser to
complete the nomination form. If there is not an EducationUSA center near you, or if you are currently studying in the U.S., please ask a teacher/professor or counselor/advisor to fill out the form.

Award Annual Renewal Conditions:

  • Participate in at least 2 "main" events or programs per semester sponsored by the Office of International Education, and attend at least 2 "events."
  • Participate in a social media campaign if requested.

Please have the completed nomination form sent via email to oisa@emporia.edu. Students will be notified of their selection for the award at the time of admission. The following students are not eligible for the award:
  • Students sponsored by government and non-government organizations.
  • Students attending through an official ESU partner organization.
